Report on Soul Survivor Night 8 September 2006
posted at Thu, 12 Oct 2006
On the 8th of September we held our 2nd Soul Survivor worship night; this time @ the Vineyard church in Chatsworth. About 350 young people came and we had an awesome evening of worship, teaching & ministry! Thanks to all who came and made it such a great night! And a big thank you to Gavin & the team from the Chatsworth Vineyard for helping us!
Ben Cantelon (originally from Canada, but now living in the UK and working as the worship pastor at the Soul Survivor Church in Watford) led the worship. Antony Ellis formed a band of local guys and girl (Hannah Edy - vocals & keys; Sean Laughton on bass, Duanne De Coning on guitar and Ant on the Drums). Thanks guys, you all rocked!
We sung a mix of old and new songs. Special were Ben & Tim Hughes' new song 'Happy Day' and Ben's new song 'I've found a love'. These songs are downloadable at http://worshipcentral.org.uk/features.htm, where you can listen to them and download the chords.
After that Mike Pilavachi spoke. As always we there were many loughs, but also some serious God stuff. Mike spoke about the desert and its importance in our lives. Jesus was baptised by the Holy Spirit and immediately after that went in to the desert where he was tempted and challenged by satan. After that he emerged out of the desert filled with the POWER of the Holy Spirit. God uses the difficult times in our lives to teach us to be dependent on him, only then can his Holy Spirit flow through in power!
We've got a few pictures of the night online. Check out: http://soulsurvivor.org.za/photo/ (the last album in the list)
A new creation

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! - 2 Corinthians 5:17
When I thought about what to write on the home page of this brand new website my mind immediately went to this verse in 2 Corinthians. A bit corny, but hey! Soul Survivor South Africa is starting with a new online identity, in the case of this website there never was an old, but definately the new has come! And we hope you like it!
Soul Survivor South Africa is hoping to be involved in the ‘ministry of reconciliation’ that is mentioned a verse later in 2 Corinthians by organizing worship nights that will bring together young South Africans. Through worship in spirit and truth, we believe, young people will connect not only with God, but also with their brothers and sisters in Christ. In Christ the sins that stand between us and God fall away, but also the cultural differences that stand between us and ‘the other’.
So Soul Survivor is inviting you to come along on this journey of worshiping in Song and Deed; to worship corporately with us through great worship, but also to worship with our lives as we reach out to the people around us.
So if you want to come along; get in touch with us through the ‘contact us’ page. We’d love to hear from you!
